About This Lodge

Serian Nkorombo is an exclusive camp built for an intimate safari experience within the Masai Mara National Reserve. The focus is on flexibility and high-quality viewing. With only five guest tents, the property ensures a quiet stay.

Each booking includes a private vehicle and a two-person guide team, allowing guests to tailor their entire day to their preferences. The atmosphere is authentic, evoking the classic safaris of the past, with canvas structures at the heart of the design.

Location & Setting

The camp is set in the Mara Confluence area. It is positioned under a grove of indigenous trees directly on the banks of the Mara River. This riverside location provides constant views of hippos and crocodiles.

The camp is strategically close to key river crossing points, offering a prime site for observing the Great Migration between July and October. The camp also sits near a salt lick, which regularly attracts black rhinos, lions, and leopards.

Accommodation

Guest accommodation consists of five traditional canvas tents, known as Selous-style suites. They are comfortably furnished with iron-framed beds. Each tent features an en-suite bathroom equipped with a flush toilet and a classic safari bucket shower.

A private veranda with seating extends from the front of each unit, offering views of the river. The simple, low-key design ensures the structure blends naturally into the surrounding bush.

Facilities & Experiences

The central mess tent contains a lounge, dining space, and a bar. Meals are often shared at a long table, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie. Dining can also occur outdoors in various bush locations. A unique feature is the hippo-shaped barbecue grill used for preparing some evening dishes.

Tents maintain an authentic bush atmosphere without internal power, but a central area is available for charging electronic devices. A campfire pit is the main gathering spot for socializing in the evenings.

Our Sustainability & Community Impact

The property’s parent company participates in a land leasing program, making direct monthly payments to local Maasai landowners to conserve the wilderness. The camp was previously used as a logistical base for the Mara Predator Project, assisting in data collection to protect local lion populations. All food waste is composted and used to enrich the soil of the on-site vegetable garden. Laundry is handled with non-electric methods, including charcoal irons.
