About This Lodge

Fig Tree Camp is a well-established safari property set on the northern edge of the Masai Mara National Reserve. It sits on the banks of the Talek River, a tributary that attracts wildlife and features a large resident hippo population.

The camp provides a comfortable, mid-range experience with a variety of accommodation styles, from classic tents to solid chalets. Its central location makes it an excellent base for accessing all parts of the park, and its atmosphere strikes a balance between the classic bush setting and accessible amenities.

Location & Setting

The camp is located directly inside the reserve, situated along a bend of the river. This riverside position offers frequent, effortless wildlife viewing, particularly of hippos and crocodiles, right from the campgrounds.

Its central placement on the northern border of the reserve ensures that the main game-rich areas are easily accessible. Guests typically reach the camp via a short transfer from the nearby Ol Kiombo or Keekorok Airstrips.

Accommodation

Fig Tree Camp offers over 80 units, including River Front Deluxe tents, Bush View Superior Chalets, and secluded Ngamboli Tents. The tents are spacious, set on wooden platforms, and feature private verandas.

Rooms are designed for comfort and functionality, providing en-suite bathrooms with hot showers and flush toilets. The camp also offers separate masonry chalets for guests who prefer a more solid, permanent structure over canvas.

Facilities & Experiences

The camp features a main dining room, an ideal place for guests to enjoy an open-air deck overlooking the river, and two full bars. A central swimming pool provides travellers with a refreshing spot to cool off between game drives.

Additionally, travellers can engage in on-site activities at the launch site for hot air balloon safaris, eliminating the need for an early morning transfer. The camp also operates a treehouse coffee deck and provides a resident nurse and medical clinic for the safety of its guests.
