About This Lodge

Ashnil Aruba Lodge offers a grounded and steady safari experience centered on the Aruba Dam, a vital water source in the heart of Tsavo East National Park. The lodge’s identity is defined by its open, spacious layout that mirrors the vastness of the surrounding savannah.

The atmosphere is calm and family-oriented, providing a reliable and comfortable base for those wishing to witness the daily movement of wildlife toward the water. By focusing on a natural rhythm, the lodge ensures guests feel connected to the landscape without unnecessary complexity. It serves as a practical yet premium stop for travelers who value consistent wildlife sightings and a sense of place within one of Kenya’s oldest protected wilderness areas.

Location & Setting

The lodge is positioned on the banks of the Aruba Dam, roughly 30 kilometers from Voi Gate. This geographical anchor provides a stark contrast to the surrounding red-earth plains of Tsavo East. The setting is open and airy, characterized by low-lying scrub and expansive views that stretch toward the horizon.

Getting here is convenient by road from Mombasa or via the nearby Satao airstrip. Its location at a permanent water point makes it a natural crossroads for the park’s diverse residents, ensuring nature is always within sight.

Accommodation

The lodge features 46 rooms and six luxury tents, each designed with a focus on space and natural light. The interiors feature soft earth tones and wooden finishes, creating a relaxed and uncluttered environment. Every unit includes a private veranda, allowing guests to sit quietly and observe the changing colors of the plains as the sun moves.

The en-suite bathrooms are functional and spacious, offering warm showers and a sense of privacy. The overall feel is one of simple comfort, where the focus remains on the breeze and the sounds of the bush filtering through the room.

Facilities & Experiences

Guests enjoy life at the lodge, which revolves around the central lounge and dining area, which opens directly toward the dam. Guests can spend their afternoons by the swimming pool, which offers a cool retreat from the Tsavo heat while maintaining a view of the watering holes.

The dining experience is communal and unhurried, featuring fresh local produce served in a bright, open-sided setting. In the evenings, the atmosphere turns quiet and reflective, with guests gathering in the bar area to discuss the day’s sightings. The service is attentive but never intrusive, maintaining a homely feel throughout the stay.
