About This Lodge

Rekero delivers an authentic and unfiltered safari experience, drawing its identity from its prime position in the heart of the Masai Mara National Reserve. The camp remains true to the roots of traditional tented safaris, focusing on immersion and proximity to nature rather than heavy infrastructure.

The atmosphere is warm, intimate, and distinctly Kenyan, driven by a team of guides who have known this land for generations. It promises a stay that is centred on the wildlife, serving as a front-row seat to the action of the reserve. This is a place for those who value the substance of the experience and the genuine connection to the bush.

Location & Setting

The camp sits on a bend of the Talek River, just a short distance from its confluence with the Mara River. This central location is renowned worldwide for its high density of wildlife and its proximity to key wildebeest crossing points.

The setting is defined by the riverine forest and the open plains that stretch out beyond the banks. Guests arrive via the Ol Kiombo Airstrip, which is a brief drive away, making the camp highly accessible while feeling deep within the action of the reserve.

Accommodation

Rekero features nine spacious safari tents, including two family units, spread along the riverbank to ensure privacy and quiet. The design is classic and airy, using natural canvas and mesh to keep guests connected to the sounds and scents of the wild.

Each tent features a private veranda with a daybed, offering a personal space to relax and observe the river. The interiors are simple yet comfortable, with en-suite bathrooms and hot showers that provide necessary comfort without distracting from the raw beauty of the surroundings.

Facilities & Experiences

The main deck serves as the heart of the camp, offering sweeping views of the Talek River where animals frequently come to drink. There is no swimming pool here, as the focus remains entirely on the bush and the river below.

Meals are often taken on the lawn or the deck, allowing guests to dine while watching hippos and elephants just metres away. The service is personal and attentive, with a communal atmosphere that encourages guests to share their sightings and experiences with the friendly staff.
