About This Lodge

Mara Eden Safari Camp sits in a small, enclosed valley along the Mara River. This position deep within the reserve creates a sense of isolation and immersion. The camp is small and intimate, designed to let guests experience the wild without heavy crowds.

The atmosphere is quiet and focused on the river activity. Hippos and crocodiles are often visible directly from the tents. It serves as a peaceful base for guests who want to be right in the middle of the wildlife action.

Location & Setting

The camp is located inside the Masai Mara National Reserve, positioned on the banks of the river. It lies in a hidden valley that remains largely shielded from the busy main circuits.

Guests are surrounded by indigenous trees and riverine vegetation. The setting is defined by the sounds of the river and the presence of resident wildlife. Access is typically by road from Nairobi or a flight to the nearby airstrip, followed by a game drive to the camp.

Accommodation

There are 13 luxury tents and one family tent, all placed on raised wooden platforms. The tents are spaced out along the riverbank to ensure privacy.

Each unit features canvas walls and large windows that open up to the river. Inside, guests find en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets and hot showers. The wooden decks provide a private space to sit and watch the river flow by.

Facilities & Experiences

The main tent houses the dining area and a lounge with a bar. It is an open structure that looks out over the water. A small plunge pool offers a place to cool off during the day.

For relaxation, there is a dedicated massage tent. The camp also features a library for quiet reading. Evenings are often spent around the campfire, sharing stories of the day’s sightings.

Our Sustainability & Community Impact

Mara Eden preserves the integrity of its specific “hidden valley” location by maintaining the dense riverine vegetation rather than clearing it for landscaping. This allows the natural wildlife corridors along the riverbank to remain active, ensuring that hippos and other animals can move freely through the camp grounds just as they did before the camp existed.
